System enhancement on e-Form Program for supporting Smart ID card

The former e-Form Application program cannot support the e-Cert embedded in new smart ID card and, therefore enhancements on existing system are required. Firstly, the set-up programs for different versions of the e-Form program were re-built and upgraded to support the latest versions of Java release and for end-users' installation under different platforms, such as English/ Traditional Chinese of Microsoft / Linux. Secondly, the new interfaces were designed for the community to select either to use file based digital certificates or e-Certs embedded in new smart ID card via smart card reader and for the departmental users to immediately verify the digital signatures with the submitted e-Forms. Besides supporting Hong Kong Supplementary Character Set (HKSCS) and open standards, the system also involved the accessibility devices to cater the needs of those visually impaired.
